Workshop on Marine Renewable Energy

A workshop on Marine Renewable Energy was conducted at the Department of Civil Engineering on 27 November 2018. Academics/Experts from Japan, United Kingdom, Ireland and Sri Lanka participated as resource personnel for the workshop. It was also attended by officials from the Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management Department, academics from the Open University of Sri Lanka and academics and research students of the Department of Civil Engineering.  Presentations on various aspects on Marine Renewable Energy were made at the workshop, which include:

 

1.    Presentation on 'Future Projection of Wave Resources in the Indian Ocean and New Criteria on locating Wave Farms for Sustainable Development' by Dr. Bahareh Kamranzad, Assistant Professor, The Hakubi Center for Advanced Research, Kyoto University, Coastal Engineering Lab, DPRI, Kyoto University, Gokasho, Uji 611-0011, Kyoto, Japan

 

2.   Presentation on 'Impacts of Marine Renewables on Sea Bed Morphodynamics' by Prof. Harshinie Karunarathna, Energy and Environment Research Group, Zienkiewicz Centre for Computational Engineering, College of Engineering, ESRI Building, Bay Campus, Swansea University,n Swansea SA1 8EN, United Kingdom

 

3.   Wave Energy Research Activities at University of Peradeniya, Dr Prasanna Gunawardane, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka
